No More Kissing!

Happy Friday! I am just not feeling up to the creativity to top recent Friday night posts. I'm sorry but I'm tired. I guess I'm allowed to since I'm old. So to hold you over until next time, here is an Anna Grace funny.

Anna Grace attends school with me but rides her daycare bus each day to Discovery Point for the after school program. We are both very happy with this decision. It gives her a chance to play and see her friends while I finish getting ready for the next day. Most days, she tells me to come get her very late so she can play longer. All righty then!

Anna Grace waits in the car rider line daily until the daycare bus with Ms Candi arrives. Approximately 15 kids from my school ride this bus each day so she is not sitting there by herself. In fact, probably one third of our school population of 850 students are car riders each day. Yep. Seriously. Maybe more.

Anyhow, the teacher assistants stay with all the car riders until they are picked up. I put my kids on the regular school buses and then stop by to see AG before she leaves on her bus. Yes I know, a bus in the car rider line makes no sense but I digress.

Yesterday when I went to tell her goodbye, the media assistant, whom we've known for years, pulled me aside to pass along some interesting information.

It seems that my child has been kissing random boys while waiting for her bus to arrive. It doesn't seem to matter if she knows the boy or not. Whoever happens to be sitting near her is fair game.

One of the boys complained, and rightly so. The assistant tried to explain that Anna Grace came from a loving family so she's used to giving kisses but the boy just wasn't buying that theory. Can't say I blame him!

Suffice it to say we had a long talk about who we kiss and who we don't kiss. When I picked her up today, the first thing she told me was that she didn't kiss anyone.

But Hannah kissed Logan.

At least it wasn't Anna Grace ............this time.

Welcome to the Army, Sir

In case you are a bit behind in our news, Dave returned to the US Army on Friday morning. He is not leaving his current civilian job. Instead, he will work with the Army on weekends like he used to do before retiring in March 06 as a Major. We're not sure what will happen over the next year but we'll roll with the punches. :-)

He arrived home with new uniforms today because, of course, they have changed since retiring almost three years ago. They look funky to me because it's not what I'm used to seeing him wear when in uniform!

We are also now the proud owners of new military tags. Good thing since our other ones expired a few years ago. We never bothered to get new ones until today. :-)

Now, just promise me you won't come by and steal Katie's car since I just published her military tag number.

Oh, and most importantly, we are proud of our daddy for serving our country.

Thursday morning: Dave just pointed out that I have his oak leaves posted sideways. My apologies to other military members out there who noticed this. I will fix it after work today!
------------------------------------
Update Thursday night: Okay, all fixed! Hope I didn't offend anyone other than my husband. :-)

A Whole New Me!

Well, not really a new me but a new blog look! I am so excited to unveil Danielle’s most recent redesign. Isn’t it wonderful!? I wanted bright colors with fun and whimsical things. I think she achieved that!!

Whether you are a visitor, a lurker, or a follower, I am glad to have you share in our ordinary, crazy, run-of-the-mill, boring, over the top, two working parents, teens and littles, kind of family. You know, your normal next door neighbor. :-)

Weekend Wrap-up

Well, my excitement about a nap, from my post on Friday, was all for nothing. I never had a nap this weekend. What a bummer. Sometimes that happens.

By the way, I had a lot of fun writing that post! Guess it shows I spend too much time with kids aged five and under. :-) I do have to say though that Dave did not like the picture I posted about him sleeping on the couch. Gee shucks. Too bad.

(He'll read this tomorrow at work and say some "not so nice" words!).

Dave took his Oath of Office and has officially returned to the Georgia National Guard in a part time position. He is assigned to a unit about an hour south of us. Will keep you posted on his status----

Alex's soccer team played twice this weekend---winning both times. They have a tournament this weekend then are done for the season. The little girls and I went to the game on Sunday. They enjoyed being at the soccer field but didn't watch the game at all. Nope. They spent the time with friends pulling weeds and replanting them in a different spot. Yep. Pulling weeds and replanting. But hey, they were busy and happy!

The little girls and I did not attend his game on Saturday. I was happily reading a book and didn't feel like heading to the field. Bad mommy, I know. I did go today though. I put down my book. A struggle that it was, I did stop reading.

Let me digress for a moment. When we are not in school, I can read a book a day. Now, this is not mind-gripping literature but fun novels. If I read anything involving a lot of thought, it takes a bit longer. My teens think I'm crazy.

Sidenote: I would love to write a book myself but don't think I have the creativity to do so. I'll keep thinking about it though.

Most times on the weekends, I am relishing a nap or trying pretending to do school work. But I have been planning ahead for the week with another coworker who does reading and math centers the same way I do. She just happens to be AG's teacher too. Anyhow.....this week, I am more ahead than usual and didn't feel the need to do work. Typically, I am a very last minute kind of planner----at least at school. Always have been and always will be. But my babies leave me knowing how to read. That's all that matters. :-)

Anyhow, I went to the library on Saturday and got four new books. It is now Sunday night and I've already finished two of them. I would be reading another one right now but decided to update you, my faithful readers, instead. :-)

That's another thing. Katie and Alex think the blog thing is weird. "Mom, who wants to read about our lives. All you do is vent" (after my post about parents of teens).

Yet, when Katie was at Georgia Southern this weekend, she checked the blog to see what she missed on Friday and Saturday. See? It serves a purpose. When she is gone next year, she can check in on us. AND, Alex wanted to read it yesterday to see what I'd posted about him. Maybe they'll think twice about doing something for fear it could end up here for the blog world to see.

Nah. Who am I kidding?

Hint of things to come: I have asked Danielle to redo the blog. New scenes are coming soon!!!

Ahh, Fridays......

I don't know about you, but Friday's are always a grand day of the week. It is the beginning of the weekend/end of the work week. Even if the weekend is filled with sports, errands, cleaning, laundry, church, or whatever, there is still time for some quiet nap time at home. Regardless, Friday's are a kick back kind of night. At least at our house.

We had a pretty typical Friday. Let me share our day............

I left

a little before four

to pick up the girls at

to go home.

Once home, we said goodbye to Katie who was heading to Georgia Southern University for the weekend with a friend. Her friend's sister attends GSU so they are visiting her. Makes me nervous allowing her to head off on her own but I guess I have to get used to it. Suffice it to say though that my phone will be on all weekend.

I ran to

to get a few groceries.

When I got home, I found the girls engrossed in a movie in the playroom...

But what was this?

Some sort of weird game? The whole entry way was blocked. A doctor's sitting room? A bus station? The dentist? I never found out.

Time passed and I began hearing hunger cries from children. So the oven was turned on in prep for dinner. Being a lazy Friday night, the girls were told to pick a movie to watch during dinner. The rules: no Barbie, no totally princess, and no Dora. After all, the rest of us had to watch too! The selection?

A healthy junk food/Friday night dinner arrived via mom

but no dinner was eaten until grace was said.

Dinner commenced

with Alex trying to hide from the camera and Dave asking why on earth I was taking pictures of dinner???

After treats

and

the two little ones are finally in

while Alex is playing

and writing music.

Dave is

and I am happily updating the blog. Won't the family be surprised tomorrow to find themselves in print?

PS. Katie just called and is safe and sound 3 hours away from us. Now I can sleep tonight!
