Skype. The way to keep in touch with others who don’t live close by. A great concept….free and with video! Much better than a phone call.
A great concept….if it works.
Last night, we made our nightly after dinner call to Dave who was in Hong Kong. Not sure where he is today though. Somewhere in China.
Anyhow, after multiple tries, we gave up. The video portion of Skype on either end would never kick into gear. We could talk all we wanted but just never saw each other.
Bummer.
But that didn’t stop the girls from trying. They still got right in front of the camera as if it would magically start working. Oh, and they figured yelling at the camera louder would make it work too.
You know what? It didn’t work. I know you are just amazed by that news.
Tonight, the video worked but the sound went in and out.
Sigh.

Better luck tomorrow maybe....
We used it the whole time we were in China. Most of the time it worked, but it did have it's moments.
Good luck!!
Hugs, Jill
Oh! I'm so sorry! When I was in Vietnam I had some issues and I had to reinstall the camera. Hope you get it resolved!
We were calling some of our travel mates from China last night too and the video wouldn't work. Big bummer!
I hope it gets better for you girl!!
sorry- It did that to us a few times but I thought hearing or seeing for free was better than nothing-but with kids they don't get it!
I hope it works for you soon!
Most of the time (lately) when I am on skype with my friend, Kim, in Shanghai (http://we5chois.blogspot.com) we have to disable the camera or else skype 'kicks us off' after just a few minutes. if we don't use the camera we can chat FOREVER!
Hopefully you will have better luck w/skype in the coming days, as I know the kids just want to SEE their dad!
ROFL!! You crack me up!
Blessings,
Robin
