Tales from a Tired Mom....

Sound the alarm, strum your violins, and grab your tissues. I am going to whine.

Nah. I wouldn’t do that to you. Maybe. But golly gee, I am worn out. The question is why.

Is it because I am the mom to four? No, because some of you have more kids.

Is it because I work full time with a bunch of wild kindergartners? No, others of you do the same thing. And heck, being a stay at home mom is just as hard if not harder! Been there, done that.

Is it because I run endless errands/carpooling? No, some of you do that too.

I can’t blame cooking or cleaning because I do very little of each. It’s my least favorite thing to do. And, I have a wonderful husband who greatly assists.

So what’s the deal?

All I can figure is I am overwhelmed with life at times. This is one of those times. I just returned from a great trip to the beach with my sister. I should be rested, right?

Nope. I am worn out.

I think it’s because I’m old. I really do. I’m old and too busy. Heck, if I sit down when I get home from work, I might fall asleep. I have to stay standing until we eat dinner.

You think I’m joking? I’m not. Truly.

Please tell me I’m not alone.

Might also explain why I am so quiet during the week.

That…..and Facebook.

Yes, I know. I’m too old for that too.

But I’m there anyhow. Who cares what the teens think!

Oh, I hear you Kristin! I often feel the same way and lately have been feeling old. People tell me I look very young and I just think to myself..."I am not feeling so young these days". : )

You are so not alone! I am exhausted too...

Wake up too early, go to bed too late, try to remember 5000 random things, negotiate peace-keeping deals, answer the age-old question "what's for dinner?," coax this old body to keep up with young kids...it's a lot and it all adds up.

You are not alone...

Ditto!!! Just got back from vacay and need another to recover! Add to that doing son's taxes tonight --and I think he's a finance major -- why am I doing this?

So, rest when you can -- like at stop lights maybe! :0

I am sooo... right there with you; except ... I'm sure I'm a lot older.

I try to think that my little ones keep me young, but dread the day when people start asking if they are my grandkids. Yes ... I'm that old.

mama of 13

Kristen, I swear I need a vacation to recover after getting home from vacation. Everything to put away, groceries to be bought, dinner to be cooked, all the clothes need to be washed. It's exhausting. And then you go to work all day. No wonder you're tired!

Ha, Ha! I am old and sleepy too and I am only 34 are you saying it gets worse?- I snooze on the sofa at 5 pm everyday when the kids are running and screaming through the house that is ok! I shower at 6pm and clean the house by 730-8pm when the hubby comes home. He is none the wiser! LOL!

Your exhaustion may be a combination of all of the things you mentioned. It is definitely not your age! No way. :)

I can certainly understand why you might be tired. The same thing happened to me within the last week. Vacation, come home and hit the ground running, have guests, have Easter, then start a new week. I'm tired just thinking about it. I need a nap!

I feel your exhaustion, girl. And, yes, I have to stay standing and "doing" or else I'll fall into a lump in the chair and not get up till bedtime!! And, if it weren't for writing every single cotton pickin' thing down, I'd forget to do 50% of what I DO get gone. Sigh...

Its not you! I hate getting old. I was thinking today, if I feel like this now, God help me at 50!

I wouldnt make it through dinner after a day with a classroom full of little ones!

You are not old! If you're old then I'm ancient and I'm NOT!

Stress makes you tired and girl, you're totally stressed. I love vacations but they are stressful. You have to pack, you have to travel, you have to entertain kids on vacation, you have to pack to come home, drive home, unpack and do a mountain of laundry. Sounds relaxing to me. I love to travel, love it but sometimes it doesn't seem worth the stress.

Sure some people have more than 4 kids, some people work full time and run around after work, but guess what? They're tired too! I'm exhausted about 80% of the time. I'm just too stubborn to go to bed at a decent time.

Oh girl, you are SO not alone! No matter what we do for a living or how many kids we have were all TIRED! and we all think that were just feeling our age.

I have noticed that if I get out and take a walk (even if its just 20 minutes) I feel so much better. I know this is hard but I try and do it.

Vacations are ALWAYS stressful.
Who packs? YOU
Who plans everything? YOU
Who keeps everybody alive and feed? YOU

It just never stops.

Take a breath, get a glass of wine, fill up your tub tonight and let Calgon take you away :)
