A Bit of Explanation

All righty then. When I left you, I said I would be out of touch for a bit but it was all good-----after I surpassed my fear. Here is the deal:

We flew to VA today to surprise my dad for his 70th birthday. He had no idea we were coming. My mom did of course, but not him. We quietly entered the house while he was eating lunch and totally dumbfounded him. It was quite funny. Thankfully no medical intervention was needed!! A few hours later, we again caused heart issues when my sister/kids and my brother arrived. (My BIL is visiting his mom before deploying to Iraq; my SIL was sick. Bummer.)

My fear which had to be conquered involved getting on the plane to bring us here. I HATE. TO. FLY. Truly. And yes, I have been to China twice now. But I hate it. AND....to make things worse. The only flights that go into Newport News, VA are the regional jets (think small planes). Yeah me. And, it was raining and windy. Again, yeah me. But we got here; we survived. Whew.

The icing to the cake today was a surprise party with all Dad's friends. It worked out beautifully. He was busy in the kitchen talking with me and the girls as all the guests were snuck into the house. In fact, I peeked around the corner and was surprised to see people in the house!! They all started singing Happy Birthday to him which drew him to the living room. :-)

All the surprises were captured on camera but will have to be added later.

Aren't surprises fun???

so fun ... my hubby is terrified of flying .. never been to China w/ me and doesn't plan on getting on a plane ever again if he can help it ... we got on a really small plane for an anniversary trip and there were only 16 seats ... i thought they were going to have to put him in a straight jacket ... i am so glad your trip was fun !!!

It sounds like you had a great time. I'm sure your dad loved having you.

Small planes - I would have trouble with those. Way to go!

Happy New Year

I'm proud of you! I'm not fond of flying either, go figure that I spent 6 years flying around in a tiny helicopter and fixed wing in the mts of colorado! Yep, that was something, then again I knew the mechanics who worked on every nut and bolt on those aircraft!

Hey, I'm glad you're visiting, Have a wonderful time and of course a safe trip back! Plug in some good tunes, sit back and relax my friend. You'll do fine!
